
Larry Felton, vice president of the Mehlville School District Board of Education was honored by the Missouri Association of School Administrators (MASA) for his service to public education. Felton was one of eight individuals to receive the association’s Friend of Education Award.
This special recognition was made during the awards banquet at the MASA Spring Conference on March 27 at The Lodge of Four Seasons at Lake Ozark, Missouri. The award is presented annually to recognize non-educators, one from each of the eight MASA Districts, for their contribution to education locally or statewide.
"Mr. Felton has served for more than 12 years on the Mehlville School District Board of Directors," said Dr. Chris Gaines, superintendent of Mehlville School District. Dr. Gaines presented Felton with the award in March. "He was instrumental in helping the district pass its first tax levy since 1986. Mr. Felton is a past president of the Missouri School Boards’ Association. He has served on the governing council for the Special School District co-chairs the Public Review Committee for the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education on two occasions."
Felton was nominated for the award by school administrators in the Greater St. Louis MASA District.
