We’re offering free breakfast and lunch for all students through the end of the school year
Posted on 10/14/2020
Mehlville School District has received a waiver from the USDA that allows our School Food and Nutrition Services staff to serve free meals to all children 18 and under living in Mehlville School District through the end of the 2020-2021 school year.
When students arrive at school, they can pick up free breakfast from a staff member at a breakfast cart. They will take breakfast with them to their classroom where they will eat before class begins.
Several safeguards are in place to protect students from the spread of COVID-19 while at lunch. Teachers are having students wash their hands prior to coming to the cafeteria. Our SFNS staff are wearing masks, washing their hands frequently and sanitizing surfaces often. Additionally, items are being individually wrapped and prepackaged, and students are sitting in assigned areas of the cafeteria and spaced out as much as possible to allow for social distancing.
This video contains more information about what our cafeteria staff are doing to protect students and other district-wide safety procedures.
While meals are free, a la carte options are available for purchase at middle and high school cafeterias. Money can be added to your child’s My School Bucks account to purchase extras with their lunch. View lunch menus.
Changes to Grab-and-Go meals distribution beginning Tuesday, Oct. 27
With high school students transitioning to Plan B: Blended on Tuesday, Oct. 27, changes are being made to Grab-and-Go meal distribution times.
On Mondays, meals will be distributed at all district schools from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. On Tuesdays through Fridays, meals will be distributed at Mehlville High School (3200 Lemay Ferry Road) and Oakville High School (5557 Milburn Road) from 9-9:45 a.m.
The change in time will allow our SFNS staff to distribute grab-and-go-meals to students learning virtually and ensure that high school students are able to social distance and safely eat lunch throughout the day.
Grab-and-go meals are available for all children 18 and under living in Mehlville School District, even if they are not district students. While meals are free, families should complete this form each week to let our SFNS staff know how many meals to prepare.
