Our Winter/Spring strings program is a continuation of lessons for students in grades 3-5. We offer both beginner and advanced lessons at Point, Rogers and Wohlwend elementary schools. As a reminder, during the first year of instruction, all students will play the violin. Students will have the opportunity to switch to the viola, cello or bass during the second year of instruction.

The cost for the program is $110, however, students are responsible for their own instruments. If your family chooses to renew the rental agreement with Nottelmann Music Company (314-631-1486 phone), a separate rental fee will apply with Nottelmann directly. Registration is open now.

Students will perform in a concert on May 9 at Oakville High School.

Teachers Mr. Kenny and Dr. Franzi of the Hoshin Sol Academy will guide martial arts students through "the art of coordinated movement" otherwise known as Hapkido. Students will learn self-discipline, character, maturity and respect for others, while learning counter-offensive and self-defense applications.

Students learn all about jewelry-making and design with techniques such as shrink art, crimping, beadwork, wire-wrapping, clay and metal-stamping! Mrs. Lyons shows students how to find inspiration in nature, our universe, pop culture and the world around us. Each week, our young artists will bring home a unique piece to keep or gift to friends and family.

Little Medical School | Pre-K and Grades K-5

Little Medical School classes bring science, healthcare and the exciting world of medicine to children in a creative, fun and interactive way. Little Veterinary School explores the health, diet and proper care of dogs, cats or horses. Little Doctor School teaches kids about the key responsibilities of a doctor, how the body and organs work, and introduces kids to real medical instruments.

Get those glass rods stirring and those flasks bubbling for Crazy Chemworks classes with MAD Science this Winter/Spring 2023! Young scientists will discover polymers, experiment with slime, chemical reactions, pH factors, learn how things stick and manipulate matter!

"Coop" Cooper will teach five percussion classes during the Winter/Spring Session at Washington Middle School on Ambs Road.

Basic/Intermediate Percussion Ensemble | Grades 5-8 | $125 | Jan. 23-Apr. 17, 2023

This class will help students in grades 5-8 build the basic/intermediate fundamentals of percussion. *Students must purchase a 3-ring binder with plastic sheets and the books, "A Fresh Approach to Mallet Percussion" and "A Fresh Approach to Snare Drum". Students must also purchase or have access to their own mallets, drumsticks and a practice mallet instrument. Some materials may be rented from Nottelmann Music Company (314.631.1486). 

Intermediate Percussion Ensemble | Grades 6-9 | $125 | Jan. 23-Apr. 17, 2023

*Prerequisite: Students must know all 12 major scales, be able to read 16th note figures well, and perform "buzz" and double stroke rolls. Students in grades 6-9 will showcase and improve their percussion skills at an intermediate level in a controlled ensemble environment. *Students must purchase a 3-ring binder with plastic sheets, personal mallets and drumsticks.  Students must also purchase or have access to their own mallets, drumsticks and a practice mallet instrument.


Rudimental Rumble | Grades 9-12 | $150 | Jan. 23-Apr. 17, 2023

*Prerequisite: Students must be able to read 16th note figures well and perform "buzz" and double stroke rolls. Grade 9-12 students will build their rudimentary drumming vocabulary as well as developing speed and independence. *Students must purchase a 3-ring binder with plastic sheets, marching sticks, practice pad and the book, "The Next Level" by Jeff Queen. Some materials may be rented from Nottelmann Music Company (314.631.1486).

Marimba Band | Grades 9-12 | $150 | Jan. 25-Apr. 12, 2023

This class is a band consisting of a mallet player, hand/world percussion, drum set player and bassist functioning as a Pop/Jazz/Afro-Cuban Band for students in grades 9-12. Students will study genres in the areas of pop, jazz, Latin, R&B, etc. Stage performance and improv will also be studied. *Students must purchase a 3-ring binder with plastic sheets. Students must also purchase or have access to their own mallets, drumsticks and be willing to perform multiple instruments in front of an audience. This class is designed for the young percussion marching band member. Lessons will emphasize basic playing skills to get a student's marching fundamentals started off correctly. Driver's Education | Ages 15+ | $325/session

There are several sessions of Driver's Education throughout the year. Winter/Spring classes meet for three (3) weeks, Monday through Thursday, from 3:30-6 p.m. Some after-class driving will be required; instructors will provide students with a schedule after the session begins. Please note that transportation to and from class is not provided by the district. All classes will take place on the Mehlville High School campus in the Witzel Learning Center (through Door 5).

Driver's Education through the Mehlville School District adheres to the requirements set forth by the State of Missouri including: classroom time, 12 hours of simulated driving, 12 hours of observation, and 3 hours of behind-the-wheel driving. Students MUST be able to attend all classes per session. There is no availability for make-up classes. Students who do not complete all required hours will not receive certification; also note that there is no refund for failure to receive certification. It is strongly recommended that students obtain their Missouri driving permit prior to the start of class.

Fundamentals of Whitewater Kayaking | $100

The Missouri Whitewater Association is teaming up with Community Enrichment to provide kayak classes in the Mehlville pool. Instructors will help build your fundamental whitewater kayaking skills, such as strokes, braces and the components of the roll.
Registration is open for the first fall session, which begins September 11 from 5-8 p.m.

Kayaks, paddles and skirts are available for students over the age of 15. You are also welcome to bring your own gear. If a student is under the age of 15, a registered adult must accompany the child. *WE DO NOT HAVE GEAR FOR KIDS UNDER 15.

Fundamentals of Whitewater Kayaking | $100

The Missouri Whitewater Association is teaming up with Community Enrichment to provide kayak classes in the Mehlville pool. Instructors will help build your fundamental whitewater kayaking skills, such as strokes, braces and the components of the roll.
Registration is open for the first fall session, which begins September 11 from 5-8 p.m.

Kayaks, paddles and skirts are available for students over the age of 15. You are also welcome to bring your own gear. If a student is under the age of 15, a registered adult must accompany the child.

Each week, Sharon will guide you in your yoga practice as you strengthen your body and mind. (No class on March 20 due to Spring Break.)

Yoga participants will practice mindfulness, focus and breathing, while improving flexibility and strength.

Enroll your child in swim lessons at the Mehlville Pool. Children will learn about water safety, build their confidence and practice swimming strokes. Space is limited. Classes run for 50 minutes. The Mehlville Pool is located at 3100 Lemay Ferry Road.

*A try-out is required for this class. Water Dance | Ages 12-102
Jump in the shallow end and dance the night away! This is a high-energy dance workout in the pool. Classes are held on Sunday evenings in the winter and spring. Adults and children (ages 12 and over) are welcome if they are 4' or taller and can stand in the shallow end without assistance.
