SUMMER SESSION - JUNE 2024
Summer Session Community Education classes will be held at four locations.

Elementary students: Bierbaum, Blades and Rogers elementary schools. Middle School students: Buerkle Middle School.

The 4-week classes will meet in June after the regular school day is done. Please visit the Registration Website to register for Summer Session Community Education classes! No transportation is provided to/from class. Students need not attend Mehlville Summer Session to attend the afternoon Community Education programs.

A STEM-focused after-school program which gives students the opportunity to combine scientific discovery and team building in a fun, no-pressure environment. By using LEGO bricks and robotics as the conduit for learning, kids can explore concepts with a hands-on approach. Registration is open now.

Led by instructors from the Saint Louis Chess Club, students will focus on the fundamental chess elements while also learning lessons on critical thinking, planning and logic. Participants are encouraged to demonstrate sportsmanship and to strive for success. All skill levels are welcomed. Registration is open now for this popular course. Crayola IMAGINE Arts Academy | Grades K-5

Students in grades K-5 will explore art design and marketing from game boards to animation, architectural to entertainment and more! Kids will be inspired to become a designer of movie posters, treehouses, board games, urban design or costume fashion. Design is everywhere you look!

Jewelry Creations | Grades K-5

Students learn all about jewelry-making and design with techniques such as shrink art, crimping, beadwork, wire-wrapping, clay and metal-stamping! Mrs. Lyons shows students how to find inspiration in nature, our universe, pop culture and the world around us. Each week, our young artists will bring home a unique piece to keep or gift to friends and family. All supplies are included.

MAD Science | Summer Session | Grades K-5

In this program in the afternoons in June, kids explore engineering and physics. They will learn how science is applied in everyday life. Summer Session Sports Camps | Grades 3-5

Students in grades 3-5 can join a Summer Session Sports Camp at our various elementary locations this June. Each class will introduce games and activities that will increase the heart rate and the positive vibes. Register here!

This June, Skyhawks Sports Academy and Community Education offer safe, fun and skill-based sports experiences in the afternoon. Skyhawks teaches life skills through sports! All skill levels are welcome to join. Registration is open now.

Choose from basketball, cheerleading and soccer! Each course teaches the fundamentals of the sport with a fun, skill-intensive program. Young athletes gain technical skills and sport knowledge in a positive environment.

Students enrolled in Recreation Academy demonstrate teamwork, communication, respect and burn off some energy while playing Gaga Ball, kickball, dodgeball, playground games, racing drones, creating domino structures and much more!

Skyhawks Sports Academy Summer Camp | Hagemann

Hapkido Korean-Style Karate | Ages 6-106

Teachers Mr. Kenny and Dr. Franzi of the Hoshin Sol Academy will guide martial arts students through "the art of coordinated movement" otherwise known as Hapkido. Students will learn self-discipline, character, maturity and respect for others, while learning counter-offensive and self-defense applications.

Hapkido classes will be offered this summer at Oakville High School. Choose one night a week or both! See registration website to sign up.

Summer Session

Summer Community Band | Ages 13-Adult | $30

The Mehlville/Oakville Community Band consists of community members, staff, current students (13 years and older) and alumni! Some experience preferred in the following instruments: bassoon, clarinet, euphonium, flute, French horn, oboe, percussion, saxophone, trombone, trumpet or tuba.

The band will meet on select Tuesdays and Fridays for rehearsals at Nottelmann Auditorium: June 28, July 12, 16, 19, 23, 26 and 30 from 7-9 p.m.

Concert: Friday, August 2 at 7 p.m.
