OHS student earns perfect score on the ACT

OHS student Hannah FrankeOakville High School junior Hannah Franke recently earned a perfect score on the ACT, a feat accomplished by only 0.2% of test-takers.

This was Franke’s second time taking the test. She earned a score of 34 the first time and says she put in some work to help increase her score to 36.

“I honed in the math since that was my weak point,” Franke said. “I had practice books and practice tests online. I just drilled it until I was familiar with the types of questions they were asking.”

Franke attributes the success to the education she has received in Mehlville School District.

“There are so many good teachers in the district and at Oakville High School in particular,” Franke said. “A lot of the test is problem-solving strategies. That’s something you get from every class here.”

While proud of Franke for her accomplishment, school administrators and teachers aren’t surprised by her success.

“In addition to being a brilliant student, I love that she marries that with humility and a great spirit,” Principal Tamara Sunkett said. “Our entire school community is immensely proud of her, and we look to see great things out of her in the future.”

Franke will be a senior in the 2020-2021 school year. After graduation, she plans to pursue a degree in research psychology, focusing on psycholinguistics. She hasn’t decided where she will attend college at this time.

Franke is the second Mehlville School District student to earn a perfect score on the ACT this school year. Mehlville High School junior Matthew Hansen also earned a 36 on the test in September.
