Earlier this month, Oakville Elementary received a delivery of Chromebooks that marked an important milestone for Mehlville School District. With these new devices, the district officially had one laptop computer for every student enrolled in kindergarten through grade 12.
"We're incredibly proud to be putting computers in the hands of every student. I believe that the opportunity for all students to have access to technology levels the playing field and creates equitable opportunities," said Brian Smith, assistant superintendent for curriculum and professional development. "To me, there are two foundational pieces that all students should have in order to be successful: the support of literacy instruction, and the support of technology instruction. Technology instruction includes students from kindergarten through high school having access and the opportunity to learn more about technology."
The Mehlville technology department has deployed more than 10,000 Chromebooks to students since July 2016.
