MOSAIC Elementary hosting Family Information Night for incoming kindergarten students

MOSAIC Elementary School is hosting a Family Information Night for families interested in enrolling their children in kindergarten for the 2021-2022 school year on Monday, Dec. 7, 2020.
MOSAIC Elementary provides personalized learning paths to empower learners for life beyond the classroom. Instruction and authentic learning opportunities are based on each student’s academic and social needs.
“Students set their own goals,” said Marilyn Donaldson, MOSAIC Elementary kindergarten teacher. “They create and show what they’ve learned through project-based learning opportunities.”
Teachers use a variety of tools and strategies, including learning menus, technology and blended learning opportunities to explore the curriculum. Students are encouraged to learn the curriculum at their own pace and within the context of their interests.
“I like being able to learn at my own pace,” said Zach Sepko, MOSAIC Elementary fifth-grade student. “Instead of waiting for your teacher, you’re able to move ahead and learn more stuff.”
Families who have enrolled students in MOSAIC say the project-based method is helping their child learn life skills that align with Mehlville School District’s Portrait of a Graduate.
“The critical thinking and decision-making is something that I enjoy about this model,” said Christian Regan, MOSAIC Elementary parent. “At a very early age, it teachers them to think critically to get something done, rather than just memorizing and following steps.”
Incoming kindergarten families learn more about MOSAIC Elementary at the virtual Family Information Night on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2020, at 6 p.m. Register to attend here.
MOSAIC Elementary Kindergarten students are selected through a lottery system. The kindergarten lottery application will be available on MOSAIC Elementary’s website beginning Monday, Jan. 4, 2021. The application closes Friday, Jan. 29, 2021. Parents will be notified of acceptance in March.
Families of older elementary students can contact the school for more information about applying for the 2021-2022 school year.
