Point reading buddies
Reading buddy program supports literacy and friendship

Cynthia Biggs, the reading specialist at Point Elementary School, started the reading buddies program 15 years ago to provide students with extra support in reading. The program has continued to grow, proving beneficial for younger and older students, as well as their teachers.

Preparing for winter weather and the possibility of “snow days”

In the 2023-2024 school year, Mehlville School District can use up to five virtual learning days if our schools close due to snow or inclement weather. If more than five weather closures occur, we will use traditional snow days. Traditional snow days will be made up starting on May 30, 2024.

Mehlville is one of 20 Missouri school districts to pilot meaningful assessments, accountability system

The Missouri State Board of Education has approved a three-year innovation waiver for 20 public school districts, including Mehlville School District, that will support the creation of a more meaningful way to measure student learning, demonstrate individual student growth and influence future success for all Missouri students.

Tax rate approved
Mehlville Board of Education approves 2023 tax rate

During its annual Tax Rate Hearing on Sept. 21, 2023, the Mehlville Board of Education unanimously approved the 2023 blended tax rate of $3.9680 per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation.

Rodney Gerdes, a social studies teacher at Oakville High School, has been named one of ten honorees for Missouri Regional Teacher of the Year for the St. Louis region. This distinction means that Gerdes is eligible to submit an application for Missouri State Teacher of the Year.

2023-2024 budget includes competitive salaries, funds for critical capital projects

The Mehlville Board of Education approved the Fiscal Year 2024 Budget (for the 23-24 school year) at their June 29, 2023 meeting. The budget provides competitive salaries for all employees and a plan to pay for critical and deferred maintenance.
