The Mehlville Board of Education approved a revised 2020-2021 school year calendar at their Sept. 19 meeting. The changes were necessary because of a new state law requiring schools to start no earlier than 14 days prior to the first Monday in September.

The first day of school for the 2020-2021 year is Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2020. The last day of school is dependent on snow days but could be as early as Friday, May 28, 2021.

The calendar committee consisting of school district employees and parents approved the original 2020-2021 calendar in December 2018.

“The committee was called back to make adjustments to the previously adopted 2020-2021 school calendar due to the new law that Governor Parson signed into law on July 11, 2019,” Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning Dr. Brian Smith said. “This law, that will begin implementation for the 2020-2021 school year, requires all public school districts to start no sooner than 14 days before the first Monday in September.”
