Jason Buatte named assistant principal at Oakville Middle School

Jason BuatteJason Buatte will serve as the assistant principal of Oakville Middle School beginning with the 2022-2023 school year. The Mehlville School District Board of Education unanimously voted to approve his hiring at its Feb. 3, 2022, meeting.

Buatte graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences before earning a Master of Arts in School Administration from Lindenwood University. He is currently working toward a doctorate in educational leadership. Buatte has served as an assistant principal at Oakville High School for the past six years. Prior to that, he was a high school and middle school teacher and coach at Columbia Unit School District #4 in Illinois. 

“Mr. Buatte is a highly respected member of the Oakville community and is known for having strong connections with students and families,” said Mr. Mike Salsman, principal at Oakville Middle School. “He will definitely have a positive impact at OMS. We look forward to working with him next year.”

“I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to work with middle school students, staff and families at Oakville Middle School,” Buatte said. “I’m looking forward to helping students and families prepare for the transition to high school and understand the opportunities ahead of them. I’m excited to build lasting relationships and enhance our students’ middle school experience.”

Buatte will begin serving as assistant principal of Oakville Middle School on July 1, 2022. He replaces Dr. Patrick Bellinger, who is retiring at the end of the 2021-2022 school year.

This semester, we will begin a thorough search for his replacement at Oakville High School.
