More than three dozen school superintendents from districts across the country spent several days visiting the Mehlville School District in April, and they headed home impressed by what they saw and heard.

All of the superintendents belong to AASA, The School Superintendents Association, a professional organization founded in 1865 to develop and support school system leaders. Mehlville Superintendent Dr. Chris Gaines is the incoming president of the organization. The April meeting was the Digital Consortium, which gives school leaders a chance to work together and discover best practices for using digital media to support engaging and effective classroom learning.

The visiting superintendents spent time at MOSAIC Elementary and Mehlville High School. Dr. Gaines explained that the visitors were truly amazed at the work Mehlville School District is doing. “Several want to replicate what they saw as much as possible,” Dr. Gaines said. “That's the power of the AASA Digital Consortium -- they engage, learn together, and lead their districts to a brighter future.”

More than two dozen school districts from 14 states were represented at the Consortium, as well as one person who came all the way from Australia.
