New Email Address Reminder

When it comes to email addresses, the Mehlville District thinks that shorter is faster and more efficient for employees, parents and anyone who does business with the District.   So, when schools reopen after Spring Break on Wednesday, April 4th, a new shorter email address will be activated.

Right now, employee and student email addresses end with @mehlvilleschooldistrict.net.   That’s 28 characters.  The new ending for all District emails will be @msdr9.org.  That’s just 10 characters.  The technology staff came up with the idea.  “Every time we set up a new Chromebook computer, we have to enter an email address,” explained Director of Technology Services Paul Westbrook.  “Having done that more than 7,000 times, one of my coworkers said it would be great if we could shorten the email address.”

Westbrook took that idea one step further.  The District already uses #msdr9 as its social media hash tag, so he acquired the email address @msdr9.org for the District.  Superintendent Dr. Chris Gaines summed up that decision with one word—brilliant.

To help with the transition, both @mehlvilleschooldistrict.net and @msdr9.org will work for the rest of the school year and throughout the summer.  But when the 2018-2019 school year begins in August, the old email address will be deactivated and people will have to use @msdr9.org as their email address.
