Art Time (Grades 1-6) Students will create a variety of paintings and drawings with an experienced art teacher. Classes are held at Oakville High School from 4:30 PM until 6 PM. Please refer to the registration portal for the supply list. $40 (TBD)


Bricks 4 Kidz (Grades K-5) New projects! Build machines, skyscrapers, vehicles and other structures out of motorized LEGO bricks. Models of varying degrees of difficulty are offered to accommodate the age range of the class. See registration portal for specific locations, dates and times. $95 (TBD)


Chess (Grades K-12) Interactive lessons that are followed by casual and competitive chess games. Morning classes only. See registration portal for specific locations, dates and times. $125 (TBD)


Jewelry Creations (Grades K-5) Learn the basics of jewelry making while working with beads, charms, metal stamping, Shrinky Dinks and more! Materials will be provided. See registration portal for specific locations, dates and times. $90 (TBD)


Little Wilderness (Grades K-5)  Brings medicine, science and the importance of health to children in an entertaining, exciting and fun way. Our program will teach children about some of the dangers in the wild and how to safely handle a medical situation. See registration portal for specific locations, dates and times. $95 (TBD)

Mad Science: Crazy Chemworks! (Grades K-5) Enter the world of chemistry! Make gooey slime, discover what makes reactions go, learn to use the tools that chemists use. Watch bubbling potions pop their tops! Discover chemical changes and pH changes. See what makes things glow in the dark. Polymers and catalysts are just two of the fascinating concepts our young Mad Scientists explore in this thrilling trip through the world of the chemistry lab! See registration portal for specific locations, dates and times. $100 (TBD)

Spanish for Kids (Grades K-5) Children will learn practical vocabulary, correct pronunciation and the basic sentence structure necessary to understand and use the Spanish language. No prior Spanish experience required. See registration portal for specific locations, dates and times. $30 (TBD)

Strings (Grades 3-5) Mehlville School District will offer a fall strings program at several of our elementary schools. 10% discount with district employee I.D. See registration portal for specific locations, dates and times. $105 (OPEN)

Tennis (Grades 3-12) A recreational program where students can learn the game and have fun in the process! Indoor session in Bernard Middle School's Gymnasium. See registration portal for age groups, dates and times. $60 (TBD)

Red Cross CPR/First Aid Certification (Ages 14 & up) A blended learning course including an online portion and an instructor-led classroom skill session. The online portion must be completed prior to attending the in-class portion. Upon successful completion of this course you will receive a digital certificate for Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years. Fundamentals of Drawing (Ages 18 & up)  This class is designed to teach participants to "see" as an artist sees in order to improve drawing skills. Focus will be on using different types of lines/line qualities for drawing objects, learning to understand value and shadows to create dimension/3D image, and composition. All skill levels are welcome and encouraged to participate. Supplies required. See registration portal for location, dates and times. $150

Fundamentals of Watercolor (Ages 18 & up)  Students will learn the basics of watercolor painting, including but not limited to: how to choose quality supplies, fundamental color theory, the importance of composition and pushing light and dark value contrast, understanding how to balance the amount of water with pigment to achieve desired results, how to layer color as well as working loose with "blooms". Themes will include simple still life objects as well as organic subject matter (ex. flowers). No prior watercolor painting experience necessary. All levels welcome. Supplies required. Women’s Self Defense
(Ages 16 & up) A two-class session open to women 16 years and older covering elements for effective defensive actions, including the importance of the starting conditions and physical tactics such as striking. Learn simple and effective strategies developed from research & professional experience. October 16 & 23 or November 13 & 20. 6 PM - 7:30 PM at OHS.

DRIVER’S EDUCATION

There will be four sessions of driver’s education offered during the Fall of 2019 for students ages 15 and up. Classes will run Monday through Thursday from 3:30 to 6 PM at the Witzel Learning Center on the Mehlville High School campus. Students may be required to drive before class and on Fridays/weekends.  Class instructors will hand out schedules on the first day of class. 10% discount with district employee I.D.

Session 3:  November 6 - 26 (Full)

Session 4:  December 2 - 19 (Full)


The fee for Driver’s Education is $265 for district residents and $290 for non-residents.


SWIMMING POOL INFORMATION


Coached Lap Swim (all ages with tryout) A coach/monitor will be present at each session with a prepared workout on the board.  The workouts can be adjusted up or down depending on age and ability. 10% discount with district employee I.D. See Swimming Pool Information for more details. $125


Kayak: Intro To Whitewater Kayaking (Ages 15 & up) This is the perfect way to get started in whitewater kayaking. You will begin building fundamental skills indoors, in a warm pool. Skills include strokes, braces, and the roll, plus blending strokes for river maneuvers. Discussion will cover safety, gear, river running, and more. Kayak: Learning to Roll (Ages 15 & up) This class is focused on learning how to roll a whitewater kayak. At this class, you will receive some poolside instruction and then work one-on-one with instructors in the pool, progressively learning and strengthening components parts of the roll until you have put it all together. Kayak: Open Pool Practice (Ages 15 & up) Bring your whitewater kayak and practice strokes, rolling, play moves, etc. in the warm pool. This does not include formal instruction, but Missouri Whitewater Association instructors will be on hand to coach. See registration portal for more info. $40 (Full)

Learn to Swim: Beginner and Advanced (Ages 3 & up) There will be two 7-week sessions offered. Classes run for 50 minutes every Saturday. Advanced Swim is held at 8 AM and 1 PM. Learn to Swim lessons are held at 8, 9, 10, 11 AM and 12 and 1 PM. Fee for residents: $40/7 weeks (nonresidents pay $50/7 weeks). 10% discount with district employee I.D. See Swimming Pool Information for more details. (Next Session begins 10/19)

Swimnastics (Ages 18 & up) The Fall Session will begin the week of August 19.  New sessions begin every eight weeks. Classes run Mondays and/or Wednesdays from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. The fee for this class is as follows: $40 for 8 classes; $50 for 16 classes (60plus Gold Card Members: $25 for 8 classes; $35 for 16 classes.
