Information for reporters

We look forward to working with journalists on stories about Mehlville School District and education. Here is some helpful information for journalists covering Mehlville School District.

Staff interviews and school visits
Please contact the Mehlville School District Communications Department if you’d like to interview Mehlville staff or students. We are happy to put you in touch with the correct person and/or resource for your story and can arrange an interview time.

The Mehlville School District Communications Department can also help you schedule a visit and escort you during a visit to one of our schools. We will work with your schedule, as well as the schedules of our students and staff, to ensure your visit is successful. Please offer a few available dates/times for your visit in case a school has a conflict on a particular day. Note: During the COVID-19 pandemic, all visitors must have an appointment and follow all safety protocols.

Photographing students and staff
Some students choose not to be photographed. The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) allows students and parents to opt out of the release of certain information about students, including photographs, and the Mehlville School District operates in compliance with this law. Before we can allow anyone to take photos, videos and/or quotes from our students, a building administrator or the Mehlville School District Communications Department must verify these individuals have the proper release information on file.

Other privacy matters
Mehlville School District generally does not comment on student discipline and certain personnel matters. We can provide general information regarding policies and procedures.
